It is commonly accepted that we all require a certain amount of water to maintain optimum health, energy and concentration. It is also reported that most people fall short of this daily requirement. What is less understood is exactly how much water we need.

Everyone is familiar with the ‘8 glasses a day’ or “7 glasses per day” arguments, but these rumours often understate our true requirements and don’t take into account the differences in a person’s age, weight and lifestyle. On the flip side, drinking too much water is not ideal either so it’s important for an individual to learn about their own requirements with some level of accuracy.

Tsunami Productions announces launch of Prince of Wine weekly TV show for fall 2009

SAN DIEGO, Ca (March 23,2009) – A weekly TV show about wine, food and the story behind wine is being launched for Fall 2009 release according to Melissa McComas, President of Maryland based Tsunami Productions, agent and manager for San Diego based POW Media the producer of the show. “We have been looking for a series about wine for some time and we are happy to have found a unique voice in Walid Romaya”. Hosted by Romaya, a San Diego wine critic and founder of the wine blog www.princeofwine.com, the show will showcase a journey of wine and food exploration where Romaya visits wineries and regions, telling the story of the wine from grape to bottle. “the fermentation basics of wine is the same, grape turns into wine, but each wine is so different and I have this platform to tell the story” said Romaya.

Wine is becoming a mainstream as people switch from hard liquor to wine. “Americans are drinking more wine than ever..for its health and social aspects” said McComas.“There are so many shows about food on TV, yet more and more Americans are hungry to know about wine, the Prince of Wine series will be the television viewer’s pocket-guide to everything wine”.

As a wine lover, collector and an amateur chef, Romaya has developed his wine palate and sense of observation by tasting thousands of wines over the years. “You could call me a wine nut, once I flew a thousand miles just to taste a rare bottle of wine” stated Romaya.

The show will feature segments where Romaya challenges the winemakers critiquing the wines and pairing them with food from guest chefs. Along the way Romaya will interact with the people who make the wines, such as the farmer, the harvest worker, and the bottle maker. “Whether it is the local supermarket $2 special or your vintage 1945 $10,000 Bordeaux, every bottle of wine has a story to tell” added Romaya. “ When I started drinking wine I was terrified by the wide range of grape varietals, the tastes, the vintages and what to look for…so that’s what got me interested in wine”.

The show will be filmed in established wine locations all over the world, from California to France as well as Argentina, Chile, South Africa and Australia. However, Romaya added “The show is not just about the famous wine regions, it’s also about small wineries in little towns in America and beyond. Beer Universe’s points system creates an incentive for users to frequently use our platform. The Company has put together a system that allows users to benefit greatly from their continued use of the site. Users earn points through:

  • Writing reviews over 25 words
  • Writing quality reviews
  • Creating a group
  • Joining a group
  • Joining a quality group
What does this really mean? Beer Universe gives users points if they add a beer, bar or brewery to the system. (Beer Universe has not currently included ways for users to edit any of these in the current database, but this will be added in the near future.) In addition, users are incentivized to write reviews on beers, bars or breweries greater than 25 words. For each review a users adds to the Company’s system, they will receive 50 points. Reviews that are ranked by others as being Helpful will earn the author an additional 50 points. 

Beer Universe has also built incentives around Groups. The system buckets users in groups and treats each individual group as a user. Once a group reaches a minimum threshold of reviews, they will ALL receive points that will be distributed to all the members. In addition, if the group writes quality reviews – they will receive bonus points for these same reviews. Leaders of all these groups will earn a bonus for starting highly successful groups.

All point allocations to users are subject to change from time to time.

Jumeirah Group signs restaurant licensing agreement in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait

Jumeirah Group‘s dedicated branded restaurant division, The Taste Department, has announced new licensing agreements to open ‘The Noodle House’ restaurant branches in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.

The announcement comes shortly after the signing of the ‘The Noodle House‘ management agreements in Lebanon, Egypt and Cyprus, making a total of 11 countries globally now welcoming ‘The Noodle House’ brand.

The licensing agreement with Mira Foods will allow Jumeirah to open seven outlets in Saudi Arabia, with the first outlet scheduled to open mid-2009 and located at Centria Mall, Riyadh. Similarly, the agreement with Al-Ghunaim Trading Co.Ltd will see up to six outlets opening in Kuwait, with the first outlet scheduled to open June 2009.

An award winning concept already popular in Dubai, ‘The Noodle House’ is an energetic dining experience with a menu and ambience inspired by the food and nightlife of exciting South East Asian cities such as Hong Kong, Shanghai, Bangkok and Jakarta. ‘The Noodle House’ offers a vibrant atmosphere where diners can watch as the chefs prepare aromatic dishes over an open flame in full view of guests.
