BT Plans Communication Integration To Reduce Mobile Costs For Small Businesses

Released on: July 9, 2009, 6:58 am
Author: BT Business
Industry: Telecommunications

BT has announced plans to integrate the BlackBerry Mobile Voice System (MVS) technology from Research In Motion (RIM) with BT Communications Complete (based on the Cisco Unified Communications 500 Series platform).

The planned new offering will enable BlackBerry smartphone users to take advantage of Wi-Fi networks in the office for voice calls. The solution enables users to switch from Wi-Fi to cellular networks, even in mid-call, allowing small to medium-sized business to reduce mobile airtime costs and be more productive.

Business users will be able to enjoy all the out-of-the-office conveniences of their BlackBerry smartphone – access to contacts, calls, applications and email anywhere – when they are in the office, but without the usually higher mobile airtime costs.

With features like a single voicemail box, the development will also eliminate the time wasted listening to and answering messages on multiple voicemails – making users easier to contact and potentially giving them quicker response times to customers and colleagues’ queries.

Users can choose to be contacted using just one number and, by incorporating BT’s One Plan Plus into BT Communications Complete, firms can make intra-company calls (including mobile calls) without incurring call-forwarding charges.

“The solution will enable the delivery of unified communications tools for small to medium-sized businesses, which previously only benefited larger firms,” said Bill Murphy, managing director, BT Business. “Technologies that better integrate key business processes, reduce costs and keep workers in touch with customers regardless of location, help firms to operate more effectively and to be in better shape for the upturn when it comes.”

“Small and medium-sized businesses have the same concerns as all of us – driving down costs and delivering a better customer experience. Unified communications can support those two objectives. The new service will bring together the strengths of all three companies – Cisco, BT and RIM – to deliver a great offer for companies of all sizes,” said Rick Moran, vice president of marketing, Cisco.

BT Business Research Shows Britain’s Workers On 6 Day Weeks To Keep Jobs

Released on: July 9, 2009, 5:01 am
Author: BT Business
Industry: Human Resources

New BT Business* research has shown that overtime is becoming the norm for almost 50% of staff since the financial crisis began. More than a third of those Brits feel compelled to work over their contracted hours every week because of the current climate, with most working an average of 7 extra hours per week – the equivalent of an extra day – and collectively putting £200 million in extra hours into the British economy each week**.

The findings also show a clear gender split with men more likely to be putting in the extra hours, including 66% of men stating they are working over the recommended 48 hour week.

More than a third (37%) of the 4000 survey respondents put in extra hours to cope with growing workloads. Colleagues being made redundant (41%) and a renewed focus by companies on improving customer service (35%) were cited as the top two reasons for this. However, over 40% also cited that this situation was being exacerbated by time being wasted in the work place because staff are not equipped with the right tools to do the job.

“These findings reflect the length that employees are willing to go to, to keep Britain’s economy afloat”, said Bill Murphy, managing director, BT Business, “Employers should look to match these efforts by equipping staff with what they need to become more efficient. Financial incentives may not be an option, but companies should consider how working practices can eliminate wasted time and boost productivity. Using technology to support practices such as flexible working can help companies strip out the fat as well as helping their staff become more efficient with a better work life balance.”

The research also revealed a drastic change in the office atmosphere with 37% of workers stating there is less laughter in the workplace compared to over a year ago and greater pressure on staff to perform. 43% of respondents believe that the offer of flexitime would help to create a better working experience. Flexible working including the option to work from home and improved technology (33%) also equally factored highly in people’s aspirations on how they’d like their workplace to change.

Workers showed a clear willingness to go that extra mile to impress the boss. 43% of respondents admitted to being motivated to work harder to keep their jobs, with 60% feeling very lucky to have a job. 34% of those surveyed admitted to turning up earlier for work and a similar number (39%) admitted they are being more proactive and have generally pulled up their socks to keep in the bosses good books.

The research was launched at BT Business Experience, a free week-long event held recently in London. As well as leading entrepreneur Peter Jones, prominent business experts were on hand to offer one-to-one advice on key issues facing the SME (small and medium sized enterprise) community in these difficult times and how they may be able to use technology previously only available to large companies to help them succeed and thrive.

Notes to Editors:
* Research conducted for BT Business in June 2009 and surveyed 4000 people.
* * Based on minimum wage of £5.73 per hour for workers aged 22 years and older. According to the Office of National Statistics there were 29,108,000 people employed (aged 16 and over February to April 2009

Lottery.co.uk Launches Online Games

Released on: July 9, 2009, 6:54 am
Author: The Lottery Company Ltd
Industry: Entertainment

Lottery.co.uk, the UK’s most popular independent lottery website, has announced the launch of a new range of games that give players the chance to have fun and win big money at the same time. With massive cash jackpots worth over £1,000,000 up for grabs, the new instant win games at Lottery.co.uk are sure to be a hit.

All of the games have been created by leading online gaming company CryptoLogic and feature some of the most impressive graphics, animations and sound effects ever seen in online gambling games. Even better, Lottery.co.uk allows visitors to try the online gamesfor free, so players can see for themselves what all the fuss is about without risking a penny of their own money.

The range of games that can be found at Lottery.co.uk includes traditional casino games such as roulette and blackjack, as well as scores of jackpot slots to try, along with three games which have become particularly widespread in the online gaming world:

Bejeweled is technically a slot machine, but it doesn’t look like one at all. Instead it looks just like the Bejeweled puzzle game on which it is based. The idea is to match different coloured jewels to win prizes – the more jewels a player matches, the more they can win.

Jenga is another slots game that is based on the ever popular non-gambling game.

Cubis completes a trilogy of 3D puzzle games, and takes place on three boards positioned horizontally and vertically to create a ‘corner’. Each board consists of 25 squares in different colours. When players spin the ‘reels’, the Cubis blocks are refreshed and prizes are won by getting combinations of matching squares. Cubis blocks with special powers make the game even more interesting.

These three games are just the tip of the iceberg, and if players explore the games at Lottery.co.uk they are sure to find at least a handful of titles that appeal to them. Whether it’s a slots game based on a Marvel Comics character such as The Incredible Hulk, or a game with a seven figure progressive jackpot, the games on offer will keep visitors entertained – and on the edge of their seat – for hours.

“We wanted to give our visitors some new opportunities to win potentially life-changing sums of money and have fun at the same time,” said Sam Weren, spokesman for Lottery.co.uk. “There are more than 50 games available right now, and even more will be added in the future. We can’t wait to congratulate our first big winner.”

The Ultimate Blackjack Experience At Vegas Palms Online Casino

Released on: July 9, 2009, 6:49 am
Author: Vegas Palms Online Casino
Industry: Entertainment

Vegas Palms Online Casino has various forms of Blackjack available to players. They cater to every blackjack player’s taste in Blackjack.

Vegas Palms Online Casino gives novice players a chance to practice first, before real money comes in to play. Players have the option of registering a guest account where no money is exchanged, but they still get the opportunity to try out all the games the casino has to offer.

Online blackjack is one of the easiest casino games to learn. The only skill needed in order to play blackjack, is the ability to add. Players need to reach the closest hand to 21, without exceeding that total and still obtaining a higher amount than the dealer. When a player exceeds 21, it’s called a “bust”. This is bad for players because their chips will begin to disappear quickly.

This card game is fast paced and the player is playing alone against the dealer. There is no strategy on the part of the dealer, so a novice player and experienced player are playing with the same odds.

There are no formal rules for blackjack. Depending on the casino, the rules vary. However, players will always be dealt two cards. Players will then have to decide if they want more cards, depending on the dealer’s cards.

Players looking for the ultimate Blackjack experience, seem to prefer playing at Vegas Palms Online Casino.

About Vegas Palms:

Experience all the live riveting Vegas action right from the comfort of home with Vegas Palms Online Casino. Online gaming enthusiasts are given the opportunity to out both classic casino games as well as captivating newer ones, all with advanced graphics. Medelita Announces Record Second Quarter Performance

Released on: July 9, 2009, 6:31 am
Author: Medelita LLC
Industry: Healthcare

Medical apparel maker attributes sales growth to increasing reorder rates, high customer satisfaction

SAN CLEMENTE, Calif., July 8, 2009 — Medelita®, maker of breakthrough medical apparel for female clinicians, today announced that its second quarter fiscal year 2009 revenues have increased 119 percent, over last quarter. Medelita has been in business just over one year and sells its innovative lab coats and medical scrubs direct to consumers online, through authorized resellers and wholesale. In addition, the company sells its lab coats and scrubs at national and regional medical conferences.

“The economy has not slowed the growth of Medelita, with our second quarter seeing a 119 percent increase in revenue from our online and medical conference sales,” said Joe Francisco, chief operating officer, Medelita. “We are experiencing a tremendous conversion rate through our ecommerce channel and what’s even more impressive is the rate of returning visitor conversion, which is up almost 73 percent.”

Returning visitor conversion rate is up 72.50 percent, from 7.82 percent to 13.49 percent. This significant increase reflects the strength of Medelita products in a marketplace that offers limited choices for quality lab coats and scrubs.

Satisfied customers are returning to purchase new styles and additional colors, steadily replacing their existing medical wardrobe with Medelita products. The company attributes the garments’ high value and performance to building a solid return clientele base and is receiving unsolicited testimonials about its products superiority, fast turnaround and courteous customer service.

Medelita’s innovative approach to medical apparel was born out of necessity when founder, Lara Manchik, emergency room PA turned entrepreneur, failed to find alternatives to the frumpy, unisex medical apparel made for the male figure and representative of a time when men dominated the field.

Made from 100 percent high-denier cotton, Medelita lab coats are designed specifically for women with a focus on fit and function. The fluid resistant lab coats are treated with Advanced Dual Action Teflon® fabric protector, which allows fabric to repel and release stains. Tailored for a feminine shape, the coats feature traditional side slits, French finish inside seams and hidden inside pockets that are great for carrying handheld devices and mobile phones.

In addition to high quality lab coats, Medelita provides a line of performance women’s healthcare apparel, including clinician scrubs and nursing scrubs, which are available for purchase at www.medelita.com.

Intranet Connections Draws on Document Management, Employee Collaboration and Enterprise Tools

Released on: July 9, 2009, 6:03 am
Author: Rachel Lai – Intranet Connections
Industry: Computers

July 8, 2009 – Vancouver, BC – Intranet Connections Intranet Software will be releasing the latest version of its intranet 2.0 software suite in September 2009. Version 9.5 will feature a more robust Document Management module that incorporates 2.0 tools such as Ajax tree navigation, tagging, breadcrumbs, versioning, approval workflow, user subscriptions, document comments and a ratings voting system. The new Document Management utility will provide the simple user experience that is the hallmark of the Intranet Connections software.

“There is an overload of information on social media and the 2.0 enterprise right now, and how that fits in with your corporate intranet,” states Carolyn Douglas, CEO of Intranet Connections. “Our goal is to merge the social and collaborative networking that employees gravitate towards with the practical intranet tools that are necessary in assisting employees in their day-to-day duties.”

In surveying incoming leads for their intranet software, it became apparent that high on the corporate wish list was not a Facebook social networking component, but a document management system, and a way for employees to find and submit electronic forms. Respondents wanted to leverage an intranet for cost savings, to reduce resources, help employees to function at a higher productivity level and to provide a central hub for all corporate information.

“Enterprise 2.0 tools that encourage communication, collaboration, knowledge and information sharing will enhance the use of an intranet site, but it doesn’t make an intranet site. Social media that is regulated and private on the internal corporate network can be a great add on to the core applications that are the backbone of an intranet, such as Document Management, Policies & Procedures, a Form Builder utility, Job Postings, Calendaring, Support Desk Ticketing, a Knowledgebase, and Employee Training.” says Carolyn Douglas.

In addition to Document Management, Intranet Connections v9.5 provides employee social profiles with a mini photo gallery of your co-workers, and an application where employees can go to share ideas, comment and vote. The Training Calendar application provides more admin control over email notifications and registrations, and streamlines the management of students. The Discussion Forum has become more transparent and employee profiles and photos are featured with topics, and the intranet home page offers content feeds and widgets that can be moved and positioned to create a portal gateway.

Intranet Connections Intranet Software is a feature-rich, out-of-the-box intranet solution with content and document management that focuses on ease of use, collaboration and employee ownership. Over 1300 organizations world-wide have chosen Intranet Connections to improve their employee communications, centralize their corporate information, save costs and increase productivity.

Online Grief Support Group Reaching Out World Wide

Released on: July 9, 2009, 5:54 am
Author: Judie Smart
Industry: Internet & Online

An online grief support group, Angel Families Online LLC, whose website services over 600 families throughout the United States and several other countries across the world, now plans to set up physical offices in several localities. The main headquarters for Angel Families is in Farmington, Connecticut, which houses the first office and conducts local support under the name, Eternally-Loved.

The group originated with a handful of individuals who had created online memorials for their loved ones. The interactive features of these memorials allowed visitors to leave condolences or tributes and even contact the website owners by email. As each read the other’s stories and viewed photos of loved ones who had passed, friendships began to develop.

They started to organize and post their loved ones Birthdays and “Angel” dates (anniversary of death), so that others could visit the memorials on these difficult days and post their messages of support.

In September of 2006, Angel Families held it’s first “gathering”. It was a weekend event and was held at a hotel in Virginia Beach. Over 30 people attended from several US states including people as far away as California. “It was the first time my wife and I actually enjoyed ourselves since our son passed.” Mike Smart relates, “We were free to cry, laugh and talk about our loved ones knowing that everyone else in the room didn’t expect anything from us and they knew our pain, because they were going through a similar pain themselves.” The weekend included a memorial slideshow and a candle-lighting ceremony.

The group has come a long way from that first meeting. There have been several meetings in various states. The website, which was then hosted on free websites, now owns their own Dedicated Server and hosts their own memorial websites for their clients.

The new plan is to plant “Eternally-Loved” group support offices in several key areas. This will enable a more “hands on” immediate approach for support. It will also reach those people who can benefit from the same type of support but may not be comfortable with the computer.

Eternally-Loved offers one-on-one as well as group support. Individual support is offered by appointment. The duration and frequency of support is determined by the client and his or her needs. Support group meetings are held weekly. These groups are designed to meet the needs of people with similar experience. These include parents, children, grandparents, spouses, and friends. Websites, personalized DVD slideshow, personalized memorial gifts, memory cards and year books are just some of the products available.

Memory Walks, Balloon launches and Candle-Light ceremonies are also held regularly. Please visit http://eternally-loved.com and http://angelfamiliesonline.com or call us at 860-676-7736 for more information.

Grief has no time limits. A person may find themselves in need of someone to talk with regardless of how long it has been since their loss. Many times after the loss of a loved one, the survivors experience a change in their relationships. Some family members may feel it is time to get back to “normal”. They do not understand that for the person who is grieving, there is no going back to what others think is normal instead; we will never be the same.

Friends of the grieving individual may become uncomfortable. Some avoid any mention of their loved-one’s name, while others are full of advice and clichés. It may be difficult to watch others “move on” with life, while yours has virtually stood still. Holidays, birthdays and milestone events such as graduations and weddings may trigger deep feelings of grief and depression.

Many people who are having difficulty find comfort in relating to others who have experienced the same pain from a significant loss.

We, at Eternally-Loved, know this pain and we care. We are on this grief journey with you and “together” we can get through it. not “over” it…..we know there is no getting over it. Keeping our loved one’s memory alive is very important in easing the pain and depression. We focus on this and offer several ways to do just that.
