Eyelift Surgery on the Up

The Hospital Group has reported that the popularity of an upper eyelid lift (blepharoplasty) has been on the increase over the past 5 years, with 62% more patients opting for this surgery.
The typical eyelift surgery patient has drooping layers of skin and deep wrinkles on the eyelids. These lead to a tired and a sad looking appearance. This may run in families and is common in both men and women.
During this procedure a curved incision is made across the natural crease of the skin and excess fat and tissue is removed to lift and open up the eye area.
A spokesperson for The Hospital Group, said: “Ageing is an issue which more and more people, both men and women, are keen to combat. Eye-lid surgery opens out the eyes and softens lines for a more youthful look.”
This common plastic surgery procedure, to correct heavy, saggy or tired-looking eyelids is called upper blepharoplasty. The procedure removes excess skin and fat in the eyelids to provide tauter skin and a fresher looking eye area.
