The main procedures requested at The Harley Medical Group Clinic, which has registered a 20% increase, are liposuction, tummy tuck and breast uplift.

“After pregnancy or substantial weight loss, many people find their abdominal muscles are weak and the skin in that area has become looser,” said Liz Dale of The Harley Medical Group. “Despite exercise and diet, this may be difficult to shift and can cause self-consciousness and anxiety. During the procedure the muscles can be tightened and excess skin removed, leaving a firmer, flatter abdomen. Many of our patients choose to combine a tummy tuck procedure (abdominoplasty) with having liposuction to their waist area to create a new slim waistline.”

Liposuction is the removal of excess fatty tissue to reshape the body. It is not designed as a treatment for obesity, but can trim up the abdomen, hips, buttocks, inner and outer thighs, knees and even a double chin. The operation is performed under a general anaesthetic, or under local anaesthetic with sedation, often as a day case, taking one to two hours. A very small incision is used to insert the cannula to extract the fat and sometimes this is closed with a stitch or dissolvable suture.

The tummy tuck procedure takes around two hours under general anaesthetic and usually requires a one- to two-night stay in hospital. During the procedure, all loose excess skin and fatty tissue are removed through an incision which extends across the abdomen, usually from hip to hip (across the bikini area) and the damaged abdominal muscles are repaired. A benefit of this procedure is that the entire abdominal muscle wall can be tightened, usually with permanent sutures, to give a firmer result and flatter tummy (even for those without a flat tummy previously).

“Pregnancy and breastfeeding take their toll and a breast uplift can have an uplifting emotional as well as physical effect,” said Liz Dale. “It can restore proportion to someone’s body and give more self-confidence. However, all The Harley Medical Group surgeons make sure that post pregnancy patients are in good health and not breast feeding. There will be a time period before a post pregnant woman can have surgery. For example Harley Medical advise all post breast feeding patients to wait 4-6 months for breast augmentation and liposuction and tummy tuck patients to wait until they are closer to their ideal weight.”

Breast uplift involves the removal of excess skin from around the breast to create a firmer, more pert breast. If there is only a small amount of breast tissue present, implants can be inserted during the surgery to improve size at the same time.

The Harley Medical Group, now in its 26th year and its eighth in the Republic, has recently opened a clinic in Belfast to meet the growing demand in cosmetic surgery in Ireland.

Survey Finds Data Center Automation Software Reduces Escalating Costs and Challenges Associated with Personnel Resources

The survey revealed insights from 169 IT professionals from organizations with over $100 million in annual revenues. The research results indicate the biggest single cost factor in enterprise data centers is staffing expenses, as companies experience skills shortages, difficulties attracting and retaining staff, high error rates from manual intervention and language issues when outsourcing offshore. Findings include:

• The biggest single cost factor in enterprise data centers is staffing costs. Over 35% of respondents believe that this is the largest single cost in operating and managing their data center – more than hardware (26%), more than software (22%), and five times as much as a current ‘hot’ issue, energy costs (7%).

• Low skills, poor processes and lack of documentation, account for a significant volume of all errors. Over 90% of enterprises believe that their IT administrators need more skills today than both 5 and 10 years ago, highlighting the challenge in keeping up with the rapid pace of technology change. But, almost two-thirds (60%) of these enterprises are better able to document, establish, follow, and/or enforce best practices, when using automation tools.

• The vast majority of enterprises (77%) report that data center operations staff spend most of their time on routine operations, maintenance, and common break-fix tasks. Only 23% of enterprises have their operations staff working on delivering new IT strategies and systems to add business value.

• 75% of enterprises believe that outsourcing data center operations to non-English-speaking countries increases the rate of human or manual error.

• Turnover remains a critical issue for organizations but nearly three-quarters (73%) of enterprises find that these automated tools allow their staff to be more productive, reducing the pressure to replace staff when they move on. Over two-thirds (68%) of enterprises responded that they find it difficult to attract and/or retain skilled IT staff to manage their data centers. They are also facing an aging workforce that will result in a labor shortage of 35 million workers by 2030, yet only 37% of enterprises have hiring plans that include specific accommodation for this impending retirement of senior IT staff (i.e., the ‘baby boomer exodus’).(1) Most enterprises (59%) see their skilled people leaving their organization within 5 years, and over a quarter (27%) see their skilled people leaving within 3 years.

“At first glance, the findings present broken models of managing data center operations; yet these challenges can easily be overcome with automation tools,” said Andi Mann, research director, Enterprise Management Associates. ”Automated data center operations and management tools reduce the impact of resource shortages, the cost of data center operations, the skills required and the volume, scope and impact of errors.”

Lua’s lust for travel and cultural exchange has produced a cosmopolitan mix of original, international and standard jazz tunes “twisted” in a surprising fusion by Hadar and her musical director, pianist and arranger, Jason Martineau.

Extensive training and experience in theatre and cabaret have given Lua an ability to connect intimately with audiences and emotionally embrace her music. Completely at home on stage, she has a warm and generous way with both her band and her audiences. This is part of the reason why Lua and TWIST make regular return engagements to many venues.

When not touring, Lua Hadar and TWIST are based in San Francisco, frequently appearing in the Bay Area and in Los Angeles, at venues such as The Plush Room, HollywoodРІР‚в„ўs Gardenia and M-Bar Supper Clubs. Lua is very active in the San Francisco Bay Area as a performing arts consultant and mentor. She maintains a private Vocal Studio where she trains professional singers and actors.

Musical Director Jason Martineau is an award-winning pianist, composer, arranger, and instructor, and has been active in the San Francisco Bay Area since 1995. As jazz pianist, arranger and bandleader, “Dr. J” directs the 6-piece TWIST, comprised of piano, bass, drums, percussion, reeds, and headlined by Hadar on vocals. A native New Yorker as well, his association with Lua began in 2005 in San Francisco, with the production of her first solo CD, It’s about Time (Bellalua Records, www.luahadar.com).

Dr. Martineau holds a Masters Degree from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and a Doctorate in Composition from The Manhattan School of Music. His numerous compositions include works for orchestra, chamber ensembles, solo piano and chorus. He has also composed a full-length musical, multiple film scores, and over 200 songs, both instrumental and vocal. Dr. Martineau has recorded more than ten CDs, working in a wide range of idioms including world fusion, jazz, avant-garde, rock, pop, and classical.
